Acts 2: 36-38

(Acts 2: 36-38)

Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.  Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

When the Jews heard Peter's sermon, their hearts were pierced. At that time, the Holy Spirit of God came on, and the Jews were surprised to see the symptoms of the Holy Spirit. At that time, Peter quoted the words of the psalms in Joel about the coming of the Holy Spirit and the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The resurrected Jesus ascended to heaven and poured out the Spirit of Jesus as proof of that, so that Jesus became the Lord and Christ of all people.

When the Jews asked Peter, ``What should we do?'', ``Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Here the Bible speaks of four stages of salvation. It means to repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, be forgiven of sins, and then receive the Holy Spirit.

Repentance accompanies action. First, you have to ask yourself the question, "What should we do?" What should I do? It is to turn the wrong direction of life. So, there is the fruit of repentance. And baptism must be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Baptism means that the flesh dies. The flesh (old man) dies with Jesus Christ. That's why you get into the name of Jesus Christ. It is to become the family of Jesus. Then you are forgiven of your sins. It is faith that believes that all this process is done. When we receive forgiveness of sins from God, peace with God arises through Jesus Christ. Then they receive the Holy Spirit as a gift.

Today, to say that you have faith through the experience of the Holy Spirit is likely to be a false belief because repentance comes first. In Acts 20:21, Paul wrote, ``Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.'' All beliefs that people do not speak of repentance first are fake. It is also false to say that people do not repent and believe in Jesus. To believe in Jesus is such a belief that "Jesus died on the cross for me." Repentance is united with Jesus' death. So, the repentant is identified with Jesus, who died on the cross. This must be done first to get the forgiveness of sins.

Today, when we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. So, when people confess their sins, they think that their sins are forgiven. Believers confess their sins every day and pray for forgiveness. However, these things will not happen unless you are first regenerated with water and the Holy Spirit. In 1 John 1:7, But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. First of all, 1 John 1:9 is applied only when we are also walkers in the light. Those who walk in the light are those who are born again.
